Paula Goodspeed who auditioned on American Idol in January 2006 has been found dead outside the
home of judge Paula Abdul The 30-year-old is believed to have killed herself by taking a drugs overdose and reportedly had a history of mental illness.
Millions of viewers saw Cowell mock Goodspeed’s teeth brace, telling her: “I don’t think any artist on earth could sing with that much metal in your mouth… that’s like a bridge.” After the girl left the audition room, Cowell joked: “How did she get through the metal detector? It must have gone crazy.”
We must stop this kind of hate. Talk about her music and that she can’t sing but not about how she looks or a defect.
Tell us Simon what is next? Making fun of people in wheelchairs?

OK, so only when one of the failed contestants kills themselves do we decide that Simon isn’t allowed to comment on their looks. It was perfectly alright for him to comment on the looks of every single contestant from all seasons, just not the one girl that ended up killing herself because she was emotionally weak? That makes no sense. The looney toon offed herself, and I feel no sympathy for her. In fact, I blame her family for not raising her with a better grasp of what is, and is not important in life. She looked horrible in the audition, and sounded horrible. If Simon had made those comments about William Hung, no one would care unless he ended up killing himself. No pitty for the weak, and no pitty for those that refuse to seek help when obviously needed.
